Nominator's project description

Professor Sander is a world-leading scientist in stem cell and diabetes research. She is conducting pioneering work on the development and function of the pancreas in health and disease. Her multi-disciplinary approach involves human genetics, genome biology, bioengineering and computational biology. During her research stay in Germany, Professor Sander will explore how both animal models and stem cell-based models can be utilized to reveal genetic causes of diabetes and other metabolic diseases.
